Candlebark Studios is situated on ‘Ingelara' - a biodynamic farm & healing retreat in the Snowy-Monaro region of Australia. The cottage is on the edge of a private lake and is framed by the southern mountains of Namadgi National Park.

Candlebark Studios is run by Sammy Hawker (@sammyhawker) and Tom Osborne (@spirit.natural) who have been slowly doing it up over the past three years. Candlebark has been designed with an appreciation towards the principles of the wabi-sabi aesthetic. The renovations and hand-made furniture have been mostly made from repurposed recycled materials such as corrugated tin and Australian hardwood. Where possible household appliances, kitchen utensils and other pieces of furniture have been purchased second-hand. Sammy and Tom see Candlebark as a physical space that embodies what it is to live with a practice of awareness.

There are book cases full of books, a 'universe bath’ built into the deck and a boat to explore the lake. Candlebark encourages a calm, intentional state of being and a chance to connect with the land.

Sammy and Tom would like to acknowledge the Ngarigo people who are the traditional custodians of the Country on which Ingelara sits. There is much to learn from the spirituality and land management practices of our First Nation peoples. We pay our respect to all Elders past, present and emerging.
